Collecting My Thoughts: Feng Shui & IHOP

I’m not sure what makes IHOP so good. Could it be the unseasoned eggs or the “crispy” hash browns? It must be so good because of the soggy bacon. Yeah, it’s definitely the soggy bacon. Nevertheless, it’s what I’m eating right now. This morning, I was awoken by a call from my sister. She shared some family news, which turned into a conversation spanning hours. She told me she was hungry and was going to Doordash some IHOP, and at that moment, I knew. I wanted IHOP too. (I know, very climactic.) I wanted it not because it was good or even remotely impressive but because it was familiar.
In an area where small businesses thrive, I just wanted some name-brand chocolate chip pancakes with some unseasoned eggs, “crispy” hash browns, and two pieces of soggy bacon. I just thought it was funny how I’m sitting at my dining table eating some IHOP just because my sister said she got some this morning. Oh, and I’m in the middle of redecorating my studio because something just wasn’t sitting right with me (for the umpteenth time), and I took a break to eat my IHOP. Here I am, missing a person I love and a time when I only ate these delicacies with her. Ah, so I kicked off my day with a phone call, some Feng Shui google searches, and a short stack of classic flapjacks, and for some reason, I just knew it was going to be a good day.
